Velasco remains abroad amid NBI probe

Former Speaker Lord Allan Velasco remains out of the country amid an investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation into allegations that he ordered cash deliveries to members of the Duterte family.

Speaking to DZRH, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said immigration records showed that Velasco has yet to return to the Philippines.

His wife, Rowena, also has no recorded arrival after leaving for Hong Kong.

Matibag said the NBI plans to invite the couple to respond to allegations by Velasco’s former security aide, dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who claimed he delivered billions of pesos in cash to members of the Duterte family on Velasco’s instructions.

“Gusto nating imbitahan yung mga taong binanggit. Gusto po nating marinig yung kumbaga the side of their story,” Matibag said.

Gracioso has stood by his allegations and challenged Velasco and Vice President Sara Duterte to take a lie detector test.#
