UP warns of fake and dummy Facebook accounts of students, faculty, and alumni
The University of the Philippines System has issued an advisory warning the public of a mass creation of dummy and fake accounts of many Iskos and Iskas, faculty, and alumni.
Many netizens have discovered this scheme after the arrest of UP Cebu students who were arrested after protesting against the Anti Terror Bill.

We are alarmed by the dozens of empty dummy Facebook accounts made under UP Cebu students’ identities that surfaced tonight, a day after the violent and illegal arrest of Cebu 8. Several accounts were confirmed to be under the usernames of those arrested. pic.twitter.com/OSdykSr1So

PSA. ‘Di lang UP Cebu students ang ginawan ng mga dummy account. May mga kaibigan rin ako na mula sa iba’t ibang campus at universities na mayroon nang fake accounts nila. Common ground? Sila ‘yung mga vocal laban sa kasukmalan ng gobyernong ito. #HandsOffOurStudents !! Tangina. pic.twitter.com/RoSPIlDDy0

The UP System administration has ensured that its community’s data are protected and they are ensuring the safety of everyone, especially at the wake of the Anti Terror Bill.
“Rest assured that the UP System Data Protection Officer has reached out to the Philippine National Privacy Commission to help students and alumni report fake or dummy accounts in their name to the DPO of Facebook.”
