Trillanes asks CA to stop Makati hearing for rebellion
Opposition Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV has asked the Court of Appeals to stop a Makati court from proceeding with the rebellion case filed against him involving the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.
In a petition, Trillanes, whose amnesty was revoked by President Duterte, likewise urged the CA to nullify the arrest warrant issued by Makati regional trial court Judge Elmo Alameda.
The lawmaker stressed Almeda committed grave abuse of discretion when he granted the Department of Justice’s motion to revive the rebellion case.
The DoJ filed the motion when Mr. Duterte issued Proclamation No. 572 cancelling Trillanes’ amnesty for the latter’s supposed failure to comply with the minimum requirements.
