The QC judge behind VP Sara’s arrest order: Maria Angelica De Ramos

Who is Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Maria Angelica De Ramos, who issued the arrest warrant in Vice President Sara Duterte’s grave threats case?

De Ramos was appointed to the Quezon City RTC in March 2025 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and was among the appointees who took their oaths before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

She was admitted to the Bar in 1996.

She and Duterte are also sorority sisters, both being members of the Sororitas Reginae Juris based at San Beda.

De Ramos herself had disclosed this connection during a hearing of Duterte’s grave threats case, according to an August 26 report by the Daily Tribune.

But she and Duterte did not attend San Beda at the same time, as Duterte enrolled at the school in 2000. Duterte completed her law degree at San Sebastian.

De Ramos had also been involved in filmmaking, writing and directing the movie “Dok” about a child who grew up to be a doctor and his mother’s experience with COVID-19.

In a 2022 interview posted on YouTube by RAWR Nation, De Ramos spoke about her initial doubts about COVID-19 and her recovery from the illness.

She also said in the 2022 interview that she was a single parent of three children.
