The great escape: Scammer Xian Gaza details how he left PH despite pending arrest warrants
Scammer Xian Gaza, who became viral for asking actress Erich Gonzales on a “coffee date” through a billboard, is in the headlines once again for a caper that could only rival those in the movies.
In a Facebook post Sunday (April 7), Gaza shared photos which were supposedly taken at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in September last year.
The post’ title read: “A THREAD: ‘PAANO LUMABAS NG BANSANG PILIPINAS NG MAY TATLONG WARRANTS OF ARREST AT LIMANG TAONG SENTENSIYA'”
Last year, Gaza was sentenced by a Malabon court to five years in jail for violating the Anti-Bouncing Check Law.
In his Facebook post, Gaza said he booked three flights: one to Hong Kong where he was headed, and one to Singapore and Taipei as “decoy.”
He said he waited until the final boarding call for the Hong Kong flight was announced to speed up the process of getting through the immigration counter.
Once on the Hong Kong-bound plane, Gaza claimed he hid in the restroom as the police were searching for him. He said he only got out when authorities left, presumably to search for him on the other flights he booked.
Without disclosing his whereabouts, Gaza said he has chosen a “new identity, new citizenship, new passport, new life.”
“Kailangan kong mamili kung tatanggapin ko ba ang conditional pardon deal kapalit ng serbisyo ko sa NBI Anti-Fraud Division for 5 years with watch list and hold departure order or simulan ko na ang citizenship application ko, with the help of my Singaporean boss, sa isang bansa sa Latin [America]…. I chose the latter,” he said.
