Support what’s right, reject what’s wrong, says Peña on gov’t efforts
Give credit where credit is due, but also criticism when needed.
This appears to be the principle being followed by Gideon Peña on government actions to mitigate the spread of the new coronavirus.
As the government placed Luzon under an enhanced community quarantine, Peña commended several items from the President’s declaration.
Among them are additional compensation to health workers, enjoining private companies to release 13th month pay for employees, financial and transportation assistance to affected workers.
But he criticized the government’s decision not to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns and “prioritizing high-profile non-PUIs (persons under investigation) in testing.”
“Support what’s right, reject what’s wrong,” he said.
I’ve been critical of the President, but the ff. items in his speech are commendable:
✔️ Gov’t to give addtl compensation to health workers
✔️ Private companies are enjoined to release 13th month pay, grant moratorium for rent“Pray for our health workers, pray for our nation.”
