Sta. Maria says slander a tool for losers
For Far Eastern University Institute of Law dean Mel Sta. Maria, even the word choice of some government officials could be an indication of defeat.
The abogado noted how some high-ranking officials opted to use slanderous terms in replying to criticisms.
Quoting the philosopher Socrates, he said this kind of practice is being employed by “losers.”
“Our high government officials, in arguing with critics, will resort to slander saying something like ‘Buang’, ‘Estupido’, ‘Bobo’, ‘Pakulung ko iyan’, ‘Gago Kayo,’” said Sta. Maria.
“SOCRATES said: ‘When debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.’ TALO kayo sir,” he added.
