Sinas sacks Makati police chief, medico-legal over Dacera case
Philippine National Police chief Debold Sinas has relieved Makati Police District Col. Harold Depositar and three other cops for bungling the investigation on the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
Ordered sacked are two investigators and Southern Police District medico-legal officer Michael Nick Sarmiento who handled the case and initially thought that it was a rape-slay.
Sinas, who was left red-faced after netizens bashed the police force for jumping into conclusions and calling the case “solved,” said Depositar was removed for “command responsibility.”
“(We will have an) investigation to check if may lapses ang medico legal o ang SOCO team ng Southern Police District,” the top cop said, adding that it has not been implemented as of Wednesday.
Sarmiento, who did the first autopsy on Dacera’s remains after she was found lifeless inside the bath tub of a Makati hotel on January 1, embalmed the body before collecting specimens for his medical report.
