SC taps 2 more members to the Committee on the Revision of Rules of Court
The Supreme Court on Friday came up with an order announcing the appointment of two more members to the Committee on the Revision of the Rules of Court.
Signed by Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, the SC order named Court of Appeals Justice Maria Filomena D. Sing and Manila Judge Jose Lorenzo dela Rosa as new members of the committee.
They will be joining SC Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta as chairman, and members Justices Francis Jardeleza, Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa and Alexander Gesmundo, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra; Philippine Judicial Academy Chancellor Adolfo Azcuna and Vice Chancellor Romeo Callejo Sr.; and law professors Francis Ed Lim, Tranquil Salvador 3rd and Amador Tolentino Jr.
Bersamin said the new Rules of Court shall guide judges and lawyers in their practice of the law profession.
The chief justice added that he wanted to update the “procedural rules to make them embody and be attuned to the technological developments, and “will make the judicial system responsive to the public need for quick dispensation of justice.”
Peralta assured that the revised Rules of Court in Civil Procedure would be completed by the third quarter of 2019.
