The Supreme Court has contingency measures in place to ensure the safety of examinees in case heavy rains and flooding affect areas around the testing centers for the 2026 Bar Examinations.
SC Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan, chairperson of the 2026 Bar Examinations, said the SC anticipated bad weather after the country experienced frequent rains in recent weeks.
“We anticipated for a bad weather,” Gaerlan said during a press conference on the first day of the Bar examinations.
Among the measures in place are buses on standby to ferry examinees who may be affected by heavy rains or flooding.
Gaerlan said the SC also coordinated with local government units, the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard to ensure that contingency measures could be implemented when needed.
Judiciary marshals were likewise deployed to assist in carrying out the measures, he added.
Gaerlan said he personally visited local testing centers early Sunday, including San Beda Manila, where he encountered drizzle but found the situation manageable.
“We have so many buses, as you can see outside, these buses provided by the school, and at the same time, provided by Supreme Court,” he said.
Gaerlan also credited prayers for the relatively favorable weather on the first day of the examinations.
“What we did first, of course, is to pray and bombard the heaven with our prayers,” he said.
“God was kind enough, kind to us, to give us a good weather today,” he added.
The contingency measures are intended to ensure that examinees can safely reach and leave testing centers should heavy rains or flooding occur during the examination period.#
