The Supreme Court (SC) has given respondents 10 days to comment on a petition challenging lower court orders that stopped the implementation of the P85 minimum wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In a press briefer, the SC said it directed Readycon Trading and Construction Corp., R-II Builders Inc., and Alliance of Philippine Fishing Federations Inc. to comment on the petition filed by the Kampihan ng Maralita at Manggagawa (KAMANGGAGAWA) Party-list and several labor groups.

The SC also directed the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR and the National Wages and Productivity Commission to submit their comments within the same 10-day period.

The petition seeks to nullify the orders issued by the Regional Trial Courts of Pasig and Navotas in cases challenging Wage Order No. NCR-27, which provides for a total P85 daily wage increase.

The Pasig RTC had issued a status quo ante order and a temporary restraining order preventing the implementation of the wage hike.

The petitioners are asking the SC to stop the lower court proceedings and rule on whether trial courts may issue TROs, injunctions or status quo ante orders against wage orders.#
