SC could probe Sara Duterte for comment expressing distrust in PH courts, Palace warns

The Supreme Court could investigate the remarks of Vice President Sara Duterte that she does not trust the country’s court system and police, Malacañang said on Monday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communication Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro was asked if the Vice President’s comments fall under conduct unbecoming of a member of the Philippine Bar and hence, basis for disciplinary action.

“Siguro po ang Supreme Court na po natin ang makakasagot niyan. Maaari naman po ang Supreme Court na magsagawa ng motu proprio or on its own initiative na pag-iimbestiga patungkol po dito,” Castro said.

She went on: “Dahil nagawa naman po ito, itong motu proprio investigation sa ibang mga abogado na nagkaroon ng mga kakaibang mga behavior or mga nagawang mga aksyon na hindi masasabing tama para sa isang abogado.

Over the weekend, Duterte posted bail for her grave threats cases and said she felt unsafe amid the issuance of an arrest warrant against her. She added that she does not trust the country’s court and law enforcement.
