Ruben Carranza to Briones: Ask for public apology for WB loans to Marcos!
Senior ICTJ Consultant Ruben Carranza asked Education Secretary Leonor Briones to slam the World Bank for something else.
The abogado said that the problem is not only the literacy data but also the enabling loans they provided to the Marcos regime.
She led the Freedom from Debt Coalition, campaigned against unjust, corruption-enabling World Bank loans to the Marcos dictatorship & once said the WB violated ‘the right to development and sovereignty of indebted countries.’ Why doesn’t she have them apologize for that instead? https://t.co/5zcYKANtGx

Carranza asked her to demand a public apology for that instead. The abogado even traced her track record for being the head of the Freedom from Debt coalition, and claimed that the WB violated country’s right to development and sovereignty.
