Rod Vera, Gideon Peña discuss validity of PH Constitution
Dean Rod Vera believes that Atty. Gideon Peña is making a hasty generalization when it comes to the Philippine Constitution. The validity of the highest law of the land is being questioned after the Duterte government released another narco-list.
I’m not sure if the Constitution even exist nowadays. Wasn’t it reduced to a mere scrap of paper when it’s heart and soul — the due process & equal protection clause — constantly disregarded by the very people mandated to execute them? Now they just execute people, not the law.

Dr. Raquel Fortun asked lawyers to confirm whether innocent proven guilty still applies in the country. Peña was quick to reply to his inquiry and was pessimistic of its validity given the rampant disregard for it by the President and his men.
This is where Vera interjected and said that we need to have faith on it. The abogado did not want to reduce the whole system to just one single flaw.
Sir, it’s a rhetorical question and a statement of what has been happening. Of course we’re aware that it’s not an absolute general statement.

Peña immediately explained his side and cited it as rhetorical. The abogado accepted the defense but reminded him about answering constitutional questions as a lawyer.
Yan, let’s have mature discussions!
