National Police Commission Commissioner Rafael Calinisan commended an off-duty police officer who ran after a motorist in a hit-and-run incident in Antipolo City and nabbed the driver.
Calinisan said Police Executive Master Sergeant Andy Evangelista deserves a spot promotion for his brave deed and vowed to work on it.
Calinisan met Evangelista and commended him for going after the motorist after witnessing him hit pedestrians on the pedestrian lane along Sumulong Highway and fleeing.
He was able to corner and arrest the driver, who turned out to be an employee of the Land Transportation Office.
Calinisan said Evangelista followed the proper procedure in the arrest even if it was risky.
He is a police officer who should be emulated, he added.
