Quiboloy to file libel, cyberlibel raps vs Hontiveros, de Lima, Cendaña

Detained preacher Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, through his legal counsels, is set to file criminal complaints for libel and cyberlibel against Senator Risa Hontiveros and party-list Representatives Leila de Lima and Percy Cendaña before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.

Quiboloy’s counsel, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, said the complaints will be filed at 11 a.m. on September 10 at the Pasig Prosecutor’s Office at the Justice Hall Building inside the Pasig City Hall Compound.

The complaints stem from statements allegedly made by Hontiveros, de Lima and Cendaña, although details of the specific statements that will be cited in the complaints were not immediately provided.

Quiboloy remains detained while facing criminal cases in the country and an extradition request from United States authorities.

US authorities are seeking his extradition to face charges involving conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of children and bulk cash smuggling.

Quiboloy is also facing non-bailable qualified human trafficking charges before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court.

He is also facing child and sexual abuse cases originally filed before the Davao City Regional Trial Court and now being heard by a court in Quezon City.

Quiboloy has denied the allegations and maintained that the cases against him are politically and religiously motivated.#
