Quack vanity physician nabbed during entrapment
The National Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday announced the arrest of an individual by operatives of NBI-Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) for illegal practice of medicine.
NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Gerlon Sadsad.
Distor said that complainant claimed that suspect performed on her a buttocks augmentation procedure. But an injection treatment resulted in the inflammation and discoloration of an area on her buttocks.
Suspect made a subsequent treatment to the complainant, supposedly to remove the inflammation and discoloration. However, no improvement was seen in complainant’s condition.
Upon verification with the Professional Regulation Commission, it was found that subject does not possess any license/authority to practice medicine.
Hence, after the suspect set a follow up treatment on the inflammation and discoloration, an entrapment operation was hatched at Tivoli Garden Residences, Mandaluyong City.
Found in subject’s possession were used and unused syringes, needles, topical anesthesia. 0.9% sodium chloride, wooden spatula, alcohol swabs, kitchen wrap, gauze pad, and underpants.
Suspect was presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong for violation for RA 2382 otherwise known as The Medical Act of 1959) and Estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code.#
