Prosecution drops Trillanes as witness in VP trial

The prosecution will no longer present former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to lead prosecutor Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro.

This came shortly after the prosecution requested a subpoena for Trillanes, which Presiding Officer Sen. Francis Escudero did not grant for the moment because his testimony is related to bank records that have not been presented yet.

Trillanes, in a post on X on September 28, said he was “willing and ready to testify” at the trial.

In a subsequent post on Wednesday, he said he has a lot of evidence against Duterte.

“Let the Senator-judges and the people decide kung makabuluhan ang mga ito o hindi,” he said.
