PNP urged to release prosecutors’ gun licenses, permits in regional offices
The Department of Justice over the weekend called on the Philippine National Police to allow the release through its regional offices the licenses and permits to carry firearms of government prosecutors.
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento explained that any delays in the release of licenses and permits would only put to grave risks the lives of prosecutors especially those in the provinces.
Malcontento issued the call amid the unabated fatal attacks on judges, prosecutors, and lawyers.
“We have to expedite the permit to carry, licenses,” he said.
Malcontento noted that prosecutors especially those coming from the provinces have to secure their licenses and permits at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
“So it has to be done kung pwede sa regional level at mabilis, ” he said.
“I am requesting this especially for the prosecutors,” Malcontento continued.
