PH law firm nominated for Asian Law Firm of the Year
A Philippine law firm has been shortlisted in two Asia Legal awards categories.
SyCip, Salazar, Hernandez & Gatmaitan or SyCipLaw is shortlisted in two categories of the Asia Legal Awards 2017 for Asian Law Firm of the Year.
The SMC’s $435 million multi-facility coal power plant financing where lawyers from SyCip Law acted as local counsel to the lenders in the transaction has been nominated for Finance Deal of the Year: Projects. The members of the SyCip team are partners Simeon Ken R. Ferrer, Hector M. de Leon Jr. and Angel M. Salita Jr. with senior associates John Paul V. de Leon Jr. and Bhong Paulo A. Macasaet.
Other law firms involved in this transaction are Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, counsel to the arrangers and the lenders with respect to English law; Latham & Watkins, counsel to the borrower with respect to English law; and Picazo Buyco Tan Fider local counsel to the borrower.
Other nominees for Asian Law Firm of the Year are Allen & Gledhill; Bae, Kim & Lee; Fangda Partners; Kim & Chang; King & Wood Mallesons; and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
The Asia Legal Award is the most renowned ceremony for the legal elite in the region.
Winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner on February 22, 2017 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.
