Peralta vows rapid COVID-19 testing to all SC employees

Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta on Thursday assured all employees that they will be subjected to rapid testing once the Supreme Court goes to full operation.

“The health and safety not only of all Court employees and their respective families, as well as the public, are among our top priorities. These are difficult and most trying times. We need to do everything that we can to protect them and keep them safe and healthy especially those who are compelled to physically report to the office to accomplish tasks which cannot be done at home,” Peralta said in a statement.

But Peralta said that even before the SC goes to a full operation, the Court will start conducting its rapid test among those who are required to report during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) period.

Earlier, Peralta has ordered the installation of two multi-function disinfection chambers in the Court.

Strategically located at the lobby of the SC Main Building and the SC Centennial Building in Faura, Manila, the disinfection chambers are equipped with a non-contact infrared temperature scanner, an automatic hand sanitizer dispenser, and an ultrasonic atomization system.

Dubbed as the SC’s Automated Frontliners, the recent installation of these disinfection chambers is the latest initiative of the Peralta Court to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to the lockdown early on in March, the Court has distributed face masks to its employees and gave every office with ample supply of 70% solution rubbing alcohol for use of the employees and visitor to disinfect their hands. Likewise, the Court has placed hand sanitizer dispenser outside of every office and near the elevators.

“The health and safety not only of all Court employees and their respective families, as well as the public, are among our top priorities. These are difficult and most trying times. We need to do everything that we can to protect them and keep them safe and healthy especially those who are compelled to physically report to the office to accomplish tasks which cannot be done at home,” stressed Peralta.
