‘Pamela del Rosario’ used as dummy for dirty claims in PhilHealth regional office
Task Force PhilHealth has uncovered one of likely many fraudulent schemes in one of the regional offices of the state-run health insurance firm.
The task force led by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra explained how officers and employees of PhilHealth Regional Office I likely pulled off fake benefit claims for their personal gain. The key was the creation of a fake account under a fake patient name where the drawdowns were charged.
“Investigations revealed that a fake account was created at PhilHealth Regional Office I under the name ‘Pamela Del Rosario’ and contributions were retroactively applied and ante-dated,” the task force said. “Twenty-seven fraudulent claims were then made under this account.”
Some 25 current and separated PhilHealth regional officers are recommended to be charged over the scheme for multiple violations of the law. Those who investigated PhilHealth but did not report this questionable deed will be charged as well, according to the task force.
