Palace tells gov’t workers: Repay public trust with honest work

Malacañang on Thursday called on employees of the Office of the President to repay the public’s trust with honest work and “good results that Filipinos can feel.”

“Magtrabaho nang mahusay. Maglingkod nang tapat. At laging alalahanin kung para kanino tayo nagtatrabaho,” Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said at a ceremony honoring employees for their achievements and years of service.

He said Filipinos look to the government for help when they need it most.

“Every task in the Office of the President is an opportunity to answer that trust with action,” he said, adding that as civil servants, they are expected “to act as professionals, and not as partisans.”

“The Presidency is that privileged conduit through which one’s skills can be used to serve the people,” he said.

The ceremony recognized 15 employees who earned master’s degrees in Public Administration while working.

On behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Recto thanked 20 loyalty awardees who have served for 30 to 45 years.

Also commended were 19 retirees, “who through multiple administrations responded to the demands of the OP, through years of changes and challenges.”

Recto also honored the families of the recipients of the Pamana ng Paglilingkod: former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, Rolito Rodriguez of the Presidential Human Rights Committee Secretariat, and Joven Rodil of the Engineering Office.
