Malacañang on Friday called on the piblic to respect whatever decision the Supreme Court will make on the petitions challenging the Senate impeachment court’s voting threshold for the conviction of Vice President Sara Duterte.

This was after petitions for certiorari were filed before the SC on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Senate impeachment court lowered the voting requirements to acquit or convict Duterte from 16 to 14.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said the executive branch won’t meddle in the impeachment proceedings.

She dismissed claims that the government is interested in the outcome of Duterte’s impeachment trial.
