Palace orders alternative work set-up for gov’t offices, learning arrangement in NCR, 13 provinces

Malacañang on Thursday ordered the implementation of alternative work set-up in government offices and alternative learning arrangements in classes at all levels in public and private schools in the National Capital Region and 13 provinces in anticipation of the continued heavy rains from the enhanced southwest monsoon.

This was according to Memorandum Circular 135 signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and released early Thursday morning.

The alternative work arrangements for government offices will be in effect in:

• Metro Manila
• La Union
• Pangasinan
• Benguet
• Bataan
• Bulacan
• Pampanga
• Zambales
• Batangas
• Cavite
• Laguna
• Rizal
• Occidental Mindoro, and
• Oriental Mindoro

Government agencies providing basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue operations.

Alternative learning modes will be implemented for classes at all levels in public and private schools in the affected areas, unless local chief executives direct otherwise.

Meanwhile, local chief executives may also order localized suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas.

For the private sector, work suspension or alternative work arrangements will be left to their respective management.
