Malacanang on Wednesday assured that the country has enough supplies of fuel even after Dubai crude oil prices breached the $80 per barrel threshold.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said there is no recommendation yet to recommend the suspension of fuel excise taxes.

Castro said the Development Budget Coordination Committee has yet to issue a recommendation on the suspension of excise taxes on fuel products.

“Noong huling pakikipagpulong ng Pangulo with Secretary Sharon Garin napatunayan po na sapat naman po ang suplay dahil iyan po ang nais ng Pangulo, hindi mawalan ng suplay ng krudo sa ating bansa,” she said.

Earlier, the Department of Energy said it does not see the prices of fuel easing amid the Middle East conflict.

The Palace assured that the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport is still in effect, given that the government has yet to lift the state of national energy emergency.

Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will act expeditiously should there be a recommendation on the suspension of fuel excise taxes.
