President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is on top of the situation amid floods and incidents caused by heavy rains from the enhanced southwest monsoon, as Malacañang defended him amid viral videos of him singing at First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ recent birthday celebration despite bad weather.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said Marcos has ordered concerned government agencies to respond accordingly to the impact of the foul weather.

“Ang Pangulo ay Pangulo saan man siya naroroon. Ang paglalaan ng ilang oras para sa kanyang pamilya ay hindi nangangahulugang tumitigil ang kanyang tungkulin o ang operasyon ng pamahalaan,” she said.

Castro added: “Sa gitna ng matinding pag-ulan, patuloy ang kanyang pagbabantay at pag-uutos sa mga ahensya upang matiyak ang kaligtasan at agarang pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan.”

Araneta-Marcos previously turned 67 last August 21 amid floods caused by heavy rains from the habagat.

Over the weekend, parts of Luzon suffered from heavy downpours anew, causing floods in many areas.
