Ombudsman to probe SEA games execs, Cayetano over corruption charges
Ombudsman Samuel Martires on Monday announced the creation of a panel of graft probers to look into reports of corruption in the Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).
In a chance interview, Martires disclosed that the panel has already started gathering evidence to probe possible liability of PHISGOC officials, including House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
“Natural. Hindi tayo pwedeng maging selective,” Martires said when asked if Cayetano will be included in the probe.
Cayetano earlier said he would be ready to face any probe arising from the country’s hosting kg of the games.
The lackluster SEA Games preparations hogged the headlines like issues on athletes’ food and accomodations.
