OCA okays remote appearance of parties upon proper motion
The Office of the Court Administrator on Friday gave the go-ahead for judges of first and second level courts to allow parties to appear remotely upon proper motion.
There’s no need to secure the approval of the OCA provided the judge shall continue to preside over the hearings in-court, OCA Circular No. 158-2020.
Permission of the OCA is only necessary if the judge will be presiding over the hearings remotely or out of court.
At the same time, the OCA reminded judges to be cautious in resolving motions for remote appearance of witnesses.
