North-South Commuter Railway timeline moved to 2033, says Palace

The full operations of the North-South Commuter Railway is being eyed by 2033 following the revision of its timeline, Malacañang said on Thursday.

The 147.26-kilometer elevated railway that will link Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and Calabarzon was initially expected to be finished by 2032.

This timeline was moved due to budget issues, following the 11th Economy and Development Council Meeting.

“Nagkaroon po ng kaunting pagbabago tungkol sa timeline, dahil alam naman po natin na nagkaroon ng medyo pagtitipid, mag-iingat sa pondo ng bayan at nahirapan po sa mga procurements and maliban pa po diyan ay nagkakaroon din po ng isyu sa right of way,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro.

The NSCR’s first partial operation from Valenzuela City to Malolos City, Bulacan is expected by December 2027.

By the fourth quarter of 2028, it is expected to carry out its second partial operation up to Clark.

Its third partial operation from Clark-Solis, Alabang to Calamba City is expected by the fourth quarter of 2031.

Full operation from Clark to Calamba City is expected by the third quarter of 2033.
