No Pinoys killed or hurt in Nepal flashfloods, says Palace

No Filipino has been reported killed or injured so far in the deadly flash floods in Nepal, Malacañang said on Thursday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said the government is coordinating with Nepalese authorities and the Filipino community about the matter.

Citing data from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Castro said there are 18 overseas Filipino workers in Nepal.

The DFA said there are 128 Filipinos in Nepal, mostly women married to Nepalese nationals.

“As of now, wala pa po na ibabalita na may naapektuhan po na ating mga kababayan,” Castro said.

She assured that the government would continue monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Filipino community there.
