NBI confirms raid on Velasco houses in Valle Verde

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has confirmed that it raided several houses in Valle Verde, Pasig City allegedly owned by former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and his wife, Rowena.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the raid was conducted on Aug. 24 after the bureau received information about alleged illegal high-powered firearms being kept in the properties.

“May mga nakitang magazine ng baril, mga bala, mga shell casing,” Matibag said.

He said the houses were initially listed under the names of other individuals and were not identified in the search warrant as belonging to Velasco.

However, during the implementation of the warrant, NBI operatives found that the properties were allegedly owned by Velasco and his wife.

Matibag said the houses were registered under the names of Velasco’s employees and a company.

The NBI also found IDs belonging to security personnel and police officers at the properties, although no law enforcement personnel were present there at the time of the raid.

The raid comes as the NBI investigates allegations by Velasco’s former security aide, dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who claimed he delivered billions of pesos in cash to members of the Duterte family on Velasco’s instructions.

Matibag earlier said the NBI plans to invite Velasco and his wife to give their side on the allegations.#
