Mulcting traffic enforcers nabbed, charged
Formal charges have been filed against two men nabbed for posing as enforcers from the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) of the Manila City Hall and extorting money from motorists.
Charged were Noel Silva, 37, of 1706 Corcuera St. and Jay-V Gantang, 36, of 1721D A. Rivera St., both in Tondo.
They were arrested by operatives of the Manila Police District-Station 2 following a complaint from a concerned citizen who reportedly witnessed one such incident in Tondo.
The two were nabbed at around 1:20 a.m. near the corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue and Mayhaligue Street.
The suspects were accused of flagging down motorists only to extort money from them. Charges for usurpation of authority were filed against them.
