Former law dean Mel Sta. Maria is feeling down over the state of the Philippines.
In a Facebook post, Sta. Maria said that over the years, things seem to have remained the same.
Justice feels like something that is hard to come by, he said.
“It feels like nothing ever changes, and getting real justice for the country is such a struggle,” he said.
Several commenters agreed, saying the rich and powerful get away with violating the law.
One comment struck an optimistic tone, saying the government is now “aggressively” going after corrupt officials and adding that things will get worse before they get better.
