Marcos visits flood victims at Pampanga evacuation center

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday visited 216 families staying at an evacuation center in Bacolor, Pampanga amid floods caused by the southwest monsoon.

In a statement, Malacanang said the evacuated residents have been staying at the Bacolor Mini Convention Center Evacuation Center for the past 16 days.

Marcos inspected their condition to ensure that the flood victims are receiving cash aid, family food packs, and other forms of relief assistance.

He also oversaw the distribution of assistance under the Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situations program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“Magpapatuloy ang suporta ng pamahalaan hanggang sa ligtas na makabalik ang mga pamilya sa kanilang tahanan, kasabay ng mga pangmatagalang hakbang upang matugunan ang paulit-ulit na pagbaha sa Pampanga,” the Palace.

There are currently 11 active evacuation centers in Bacolor serving 559 families or 2,221 individuals.

In Pampanga, the DSWD reported that a total of 315,807 families, or 1.01 million individuals, were affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon and recent tropical cyclones. Of these, 3,118 families or 11,308 individuals remained in evacuation centers.
