Marcos reminds students: Always be curious, open to ideas

Students should always be curious, keep on asking, and be open to new ideas and points of view so that they will continue learning, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday.

He made the call at the recognition of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Participating Schools and Education Partners held in Pasay City.

“To our learners, keep asking questions. Look at things from different points of view. Do not be afraid to change your mind when you learn something new… To change one’s opinion, to change one’s view is the prerogative of an intelligent mind,” the President said.

He said teachers and parents should also do their part in cultivating learners’ curiosity by encouraging them to explore beyond the four walls of their classroom and guiding them in the appropriate use of technology.

“Let us teach our children to be intelligent. Let us teach our children to question. Let us teach our children to understand,” the President said.

The Philippines recently posted its highest-ever mean scores in the PISA in reading, mathematics, and science in 2025, logging mean scores of 373 in science, 371 in mathematics, and 367 in reading- all an improvement from its 2022 PISA results.
