Marcos orders release of long-delayed cash gift for qualified senior citizens

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the release of cash gifts for senior citizens after a group reported delays in its distribution.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro said the complaint filed by the senior citizens before the Anti-Red Tape Authority has reached Marcos.

“Ito po ay nakarating sa Pangulo at kailangan po talaga maibigay kung ano ang benepisyo na dapat ibigay sa ating mga elderlies lalung-lalo na iyong mga senior citizens dahil iyan naman po ay talagang kailangang maipaabot sa kanila nang mas mabilis at sa mabilis na pamamaraan,” she said.

Marcos ordered the ARTA to endorse the complaint against the National Commission on Senior Citizens.

Under the Expanded Centenarians Act, senior citizens who reach milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old are entitled to a P 10,000 cash gift.

Those who reach 100 years old are entitled to P 100,000.
