Marcos lawyer: Bongbong to emerge triumphant in PET recount
The camp of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday appeared optimistic that the former lawmaker would emerge triumphant in his historic electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
“We believe that the PET is really hell-bent in disposing our protest. We’re hoping that within the year or before the end of term of CJ Bersamin, this case will be resolved so that once and for all we can put an end to the issue,” he told reporters in a chance interview.
“If the tribunal rules that Leni Robredo really won the vice presidential race, then we have to accept. But if it decides that we really won, then they should also accept. We are in a democracy and whatever the outcome of this case will be should be accepted by both parties,” the lawyer stressed.
Robredo won the vice presidential race in the May 2016 polls with 14,418,817 votes or 263,473 more than Marcos’ 14,155,344 votes.
