Business tycoon and former Senate President Manny Villar said he is confident that he can address the issues raised against PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation (PWIC), which is facing a graft complaint along with its officers before the Office of the Ombudsman over its alleged poor service.
The Office of the Ombudsman said the graft and administrative complaints against PWIC officers, including the Villars, will undergo preliminary investigation.
The complaints stemmed from PWIC’s alleged failure to supply uninterrupted water resources and its allegedly grossly disadvantageous joint venture agreements with local water districts.
In a statement, Villar said he has yet to receive copies of the complaints and cannot as yet comment on the specific allegations.
“We are confident that, once given the opportunity to examine the allegations and the evidence supporting them, we will be able to fully and properly defend our rights and address the matters raised against us,” he said.
He said he and the other officers would respond to the complaint in the proper forum.
He asked that they not be prejudged.
“In the meantime, we ask that the legal process be allowed to take its course and that conclusions not be drawn before the parties have been afforded the opportunity to be heard,” he said.
Aside from Villar, also named in the complaint are Senators Mark and Camille Villar, former Sen. Cynthia Villar, Manuel Paolo Villar, PWIC President Fe Rebancos, and local water district officials.
