Election lawyer Romulo Macalintal welcomed the Supreme Court’s resolution on his petition challenging the constitutionality of Republic Act No. 12326, which postpones the 2026 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to 2028.

Macalintal said the SC’s order giving the respondents a non-extendible five-day period to comment on his petition and plea for a temporary restraining order (TRO) was a welcome development.

He expressed confidence that the SC would soon rule on the petition, which he said concerns the public’s right to vote.

“Nagsisimula pa lang ang laban, hindi pa tapos,” Macalintal said.#
