First Lady Liza Marcos honored the work of the Philippine Constitution Association in protecting the fundamental law of the land, even as she acknowledged that no Constitution is perfect.
Marcos joined PhilConsa’s recent celebration of its 65th anniversary, saying she was honored to be part of the event and recognizing the work of its members.
Marcos, a lawyer, said it brought to mind a lesson from her Constitutional Law professor, the late Fr. Joaquin Bernas, who told his students, “no constitution is ever perfect,” and it is “always a work in progress.”
“Perhaps that is why, 65 years later, PhilConsa’s work remains just as important: to protect the Constitution, uphold the rule of law, and keep its principles alive for every generation of Filipinos,” she said.
PhilConsa is a non-stock and non-profit civic organization of legal luminaries, business and socio-civic leaders and is dedicated to defending the Constitution and promoting its importance and relevance.
