In light of the decision of the Supreme Court, sitting as Philippine Electoral Tribunal, to release the recount report on Bongbong Marcos’ poll protest, Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen explained on Twitter why they had to do that.

The abogado quoted a tweet that tells the public to “give the SC the benefit of the doubt with its ruling.”

Twitter user Danny Ching said: “Perhaps they wanted to tackle all the motions of the BBM camp before finally ruling on it. To avoid further delays with more motions etc.”

Leonen thanked Ching for “resisting the temptation to attribute evil intentions before having read the actual resolution, relying only on brief media reports, speculation of partisans.”

“Being fair takes courage. Court decided to release report, hear the parties on all issues before deciding,” he said.
