Lawyer nabbed inside NCRPO office for bribery
A lawyer and his two companions have been arrested before dawn on Friday after they allegedly offered P1.2 million in bribe to arresting officers of a Chinese who was previously nabbed for allegedly maintaining a prostitution den.
Lawyer Joselito Vasquez and his companions, Huang Xiangfei, a Chinese, and driver Meljohn Palma were arrested in an entrapment operation inside the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) office of the NCRPO at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City at 2 a.m.
According to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, Vasquez interceded for Li Xuemei, who was arrested Wednesday for operating a prostitution den in a condominium in Makati City.
Six Vietnamese women, allegedly offering sexual services to Chinese workers in Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos), were rescued in that operation.
Vasquez on Thursday allegedly offered the chief of the RSOU P2 million for the release of his client.
On Friday, Vasquez returned to RSOU with P1 million in cash supposedly as initial payment. But police wasted no time and immediately arrested him and his companions. Also seized was P200,000 from the driver.
Police are now readying appropriate charges against the lawyer and his companions.
