Lawyer-broadcaster indicted for rape, no bail was recommended
Formal charges of rape have filed against a Cebu-based lawyer-broadcaster after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl inside his car last year.
This was after a prima facie evidence was found against Atty. Juril Patiño during preliminary investigation of the case. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
The case was filed before the Cebu regional trial court and was raffled to Branch 20.
“The testimony of the minor victim coupled with the result of her medical examination, which shows positive result of laceration of the hymen, prevails over Juril’s,” State Prosecutor Alex Gabud’s resolution read in part.
For his part, Patiño vehemently denied the accusations being hurled against him.
He bared that he would file a petition for review before the Department of Justice.
The lawyer pointed out that the charges thrown at him weren’t just an attack against his person but against the legal and media communities as well.
The girl was allegedly raped inside Patiño’s car along Zamora St., in Barangay Parian, Cebu City on July 4, 2017.
