The Integrated Bar of the Philippines joined the celebration of Law Day today, September 19, and underscored the important role that lawyers play in the delivery of justice.
In a statement, the IBP honored members of the legal profession for advancing the cause of justice, protecting people’s rights, and upholding democratic principles.
It reminded members of the Bar that being a lawyer is not just a job.
“May this occasion remind us that the practice of law is not only a profession, but also a continuing responsibility to serve the public, defend the rule of law, and help make justice accessible to all,” it said.
Law Day is observed every September 19 pursuant to Proclamation No. 1477, s. 1975.
The proclamation recognizes lawyers’ vital role in the administration of justice and in enhancing the rule of law.
“It is but fitting that such a vital role of lawyers in the life and well-being of the nation be duly brought to the attention of our people,” it states.
