Abogado and academician Tony La Viña pays homage to his favorite homestay in Sagada.

On Twitter, he reminisces on St. Joseph Resthouse as he first knew it in 1979 and how time has changed this iconic town in the Cordilleras.

Throwback! Tony La Vina returns to Sagada

“From 1979, St Joseph in Sagada has changed. From one building, they have individual cottages now as well as an apartelle. But some things remain the same, like the fireplace where one conversed with interesting strangers, mostly foreigners. But once I met a Maranao trader there,” he said.

St. Joseph, he said, was the only inn available to visitors when he first came to Sagada 40 years ago.

The place also has a significance on pop culture.

“Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising was also filmed here so it was extra special staying here. I looked [at] the room I stayed to see again those lovely small window frames,” he added.
