La Viña condemns HRVs, killings in Negros

Abogado and academician Tony La Viña made a strong statement against the killings in Negros.

“The killings in the country become more vicious when encouraged or at the very least tolerated by the State even when justified as a measure for the attainment of greater common good,” the abogado said.

In a series of tweets, the abogado had condemned the “killings and human rights violations of all those who commit them, and regardless of justification.”

“The call by bishops of Negros to toll the church bells may be an empty gesture, a fool’s errand. Some say killings will continue no matter how loud protests. But tolling of bells remind us grim reality that something dies inside ourselves when we remain silent in front of evil,” he said.
