The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has released a shortlist of candidates for the vacant Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon.

The shortlist was already sent to President Duterte to make the appointment.

Those who made it in the list were Beda Epres, a director of the General Investigation Bureau of the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB); Rodolfo Noel Quimbo, director general of the Senate’s Blue Ribbon Oversight Office Management, and Cornelio Somido, the OMB’s acting deputy special prosecutor.

They were chosen among other applicants that included former Justice undersecretary Erickson Balmes, former Ombudsman for Mindanao Eusebio Avila, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) executive director Eduardo Bringas, OMB prosecutor Jacinto Dela Cruz Jr., and lawyer Rafael Hipolito

The post became vacant following the retirement of Gerard Mosquera last June 1.
