Jardeleza to teach Constitutional Law to maiden batch of UP Law Iloilo students
Retired Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza has returned to the faculty of the University of the Philippines College of Law and has been announced as one of the professors for the maiden batch of its Iloilo campus students.
Jardeleza will teach Constitutional Law 1 course, which focuses on the Philippine political system, to the evening section through online classes.
The said course normally includes a discussion of the Philippine territory. On this topic, Jardeleza had disagreed with retired Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on whether the baselines law should be amended to enforce the Philippine claim to its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea.
The other professors and lecturers announced so far for UP Iloilo classes are:
◉ former Supreme Court Public Information Office (SCPIO) chief Theodore Te for Criminal Law 1;
◉ UP Law Center Institute of Human Rights director Elizabeth Aguiling-Pangalanan for Persons and Family Relations
◉ Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) international law committee chair Andre Palacios for Legal History, and;
◉ Former Philippine Law Journal editor Jose Maria Marella for Legal Method.
