Jardeleza’s rants water under the bridge’- Sereno camp
The issues raised over the exclusion of Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza from the Supreme Court (SC) shortlist and the delay in request of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II to transfer the Maute cases shouldn’t be part of the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, her camp said.
One of her spokespersons, lawyer Jojo Lacanilao, said the issues have been rendered moot and shouldn’t even be discussed.
“That’s all water under the bridge,” he said in a statement.
In the impeachment complaint, Sereno allegedly blocked then Solicitor General Jardeleza from being placed in the shortlist of nominees as SC justice.
Also, Sereno alleged sat on the request of Aguirre to transfer the cases against members of the Maute terrorist group outside Mindanao due to security concerns.
“Justice Jardeleza was appointed by President Aquino. The SC en banc resolved to grant Secretary Aguirre’s request,” Lacanilao reminded.
